Images in my Secrets from the Center of the World portfolio were assembled from photographs taken between 1980 and 2005. They attempt to capture what is nearly beyond the camera's grasp: a land shaped by millennial forces and yesterday's cloudburst into undulations of color and form - its history re-imagined in light that at once penetrates and sculpts. I bring to this landscape the sensibilities of an astronomer who has lived in the desert for almost 20 years, and in whom the desert has lived for more than 30. My tools are simple: a 35mm or 4x5 view camera, and long focal length lenses whose power to compress vast desert spaces can create an illusion of intimacy, of comprehension. The original transparencies were scanned, processed and reformatted, inviting viewers to look deeply into what light and earth together form.

Images are all archival inkjet prints made using an Epson 9800 printer, which delivers high-quality images (2400 dpi resolution). The combination of inks and papers used have laboratory-demonstrated light fastness ratings of up to 108 years.

They are available in 3 sizes in editions of 25. For an image size of 30 by 30 inches, the price is $1200; for 24 by 24 inches, the price is $750; for 12 by 12 inches, the price is $600.
